International legal practice Osborne Clarke has elected a new head for its Thames Valley office in Reading as Robert Wood replaces James Massy-Collier. Wood joined Osborne Clarke in 2000, became a corporate partner in 2010 and he will also join the firm's Partnership Council in his new role as office head.

Massy-Collier led the Reading office for the past five years, has been a corporate partner for nearly 30 years and will now act as the firm's general counsel advising the partnership on all legal, governance and risk issues. Both appointments take effect from May 1.

Wood commented: "We have a hugely talented team with a well-deserved reputation as a leading law firm in Reading. Not only do we act for a number of leading corporate clients, intermediaries and banks in the Thames Valley, we can also offer significant international reach across our 20+ global offices. I plan to build on the great work James has done over the past five years and continue to improve the quality of the services we offer to our local and international clients."

During the past year, Osborne Clarke Reading advised on more than 150 transactions with an aggregate deal value in excess of £2.25 billion. The firm was awarded Law Firm of the Year at the 2016 Thames Valley Deals Awards and shortlisted for the same award in 2017.
