Oxfordshire-based accountants and business advisers Shaw Gibbs has increased its number of partners to 14 with the addition of Emma Hall and Matt Wistow.

Hall, who funded herself through an accounting and finance degree at Oxford Brookes, joined the firm as a trainee accountant nine years ago, qualifying in 2007 as an ACCA. She also completes her chartered tax adviser qualification later this year.

She said: “Shaw Gibbs has been so supportive of me over the past nine years. The level of mentoring and coaching given by the various partners has also been invaluable for my development. I love working with my clients and I’m grateful for their support. I am also excited about the further contribution I can make to Shaw Gibbs as partner.”

Managing partner Graham Henley said: “We are delighted to have Emma on board as partner. She has not only worked incredibly hard in her exams and in ensuring her clients receive the best advice, but her pro-active and friendly attitude has also played a big part in her promotion.”

Wistow has looked after the firm’s business development for the past three years. On joining Shaw Gibbs, he brought over 20 years’ of experience in corporate banking and 10 years’ experience of working in Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley.

He said: “My entrepreneurial and commercial approach fits in perfectly with Shaw Gibbs’ dynamic and friendly culture. I am looking forward to playing an even greater part in the direction of the firm now as partner.”

Henley said of his promotion: “Matt’s energy for progress and success is infectious, and his appetite for innovative and practical solutions for clients and contacts has added great value to the firm.”
