New plans for a proposed 1,600-home Winterbourne Fields development in Kent have been released by developer Shaptor Capital.

Set on two sites of ‘Grade 4 agricultural land’ totalling 76.58 hectares, the new development would include a new primary school and nursery, space allocated for medical and healthcare services and 23 hectares of green space for public use.

This is on top of new sports facilities including sports pitches, cycling trails and multi-use sports grounds, available to everyone in the area.

Winterbourne Fields would also create new routes around the area and immediate access to the countryside, reducing the need for cars. Further, the junction to the A2 would be upgraded to improve access and reduce congestion.

A newly-created EV and Public Transport Hub, sitting at the heart of the development, would help reduce carbon emissions.

The development would also create around 600 new jobs.

When the development was initially announced in 2020, Marco Nardini, Shaptor Capital’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to announce our proposal to create Winterbourne Fields - providing much needed new homes and facilities in Swale and improve road access in the area.

“Our ethos is to create high quality, attractive and successful schemes. Winterbourne Fields will be no different.”
