MP Theresa May was given a behind the scenes look at the ongoing project to improve Maidenhead’s internet.

Representatives from CityFibre and VolkerHighways showed the former Prime Minister the £14 million project, and demonstrated the build process including excavation and reinstatement.

Neil Madle, CityFibre’s area manager for Maidenhead, said: “It was a pleasure to have Theresa May MP join us in Maidenhead and show her the work we have been doing to transform the digital capabilities of the town.

“According to recent Hatch research, in Maidenhead alone, our full fibre network is expected to unlock £146million in productivity and innovation, as well as deliver a £103million increase in house value.

“It’s really exciting to see the network grow with more addresses going live day by day and we cannot wait to see how the town will benefit in the years to come.”

Maidenhead MP Theresa May MP, said: “I found it incredibly interesting to see behind the scenes of CityFibre’s network and learn about how it will futureproof the area.

"It’s so important that we invest the time and funding into our digital infrastructure. It will make a huge difference to residents and businesses and make Maidenhead one of the best connected towns in the UK.”

VolkerHighways is delivering the upgrades on behalf of CityFibre, working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council. CityFibre designates homes ready as the installations are completed in the neighbourhood, enabling residents to connect to full-fibre enabled broadband services.

In Maidenhead, CityFibre is working with launch partner Vodafone to deliver next generation broadband services, as well as TalkTalk, Giganet, Zen, IDNet, Octaplus, Yayzi, Trunk and Andrews & Arnold with others expected to join the network soon.
