Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP continues to grow its corporate finance team in the Thames Valley and the south with the appointment of a new transaction services partner, Matt Lister.

Lister joins BDO’s Thames Tower Reading office from PwC. His role will see him specialising in transaction support to entrepreneurially minded businesses and private equity clients based in the Thames Valley and surrounding region. His areas of expertise include the consumer and industrial manufacturing sectors.

He commented: “I'm really looking forward to working with entrepreneurially spirited, ambitious businesses and the people behind them to help them succeed. It's a fantastic time to be joining such an ambitious firm, following the recent BDO merger with Moore Stephens LLP, and I'm looking forward to getting to know many of the talented people across the BDO network.”

With 16 dedicated team members based in Reading, BDO’s corporate finance team is firmly established as one of the largest and most active teams in the region and is recognised as the go to advisor in the highly active mid-market.

In 2018 the Reading team advised on 39 transactions with a combined value of £1.5 billion including a mix of buy-side and sell-side mandates for a wide range of private equity and trade transactions – including some of the highest profile and most complex deals in the region.

Earlier this month BDO announced its merger with Moore Stephens LLP was complete, making it the UK’s number one accountancy and advisory firm focused on entrepreneurially-spirited mid-sized businesses. The firm has attracted five new partners in the first two months of 2019 and more than 70 in the past two years.

Simon Brooker, partner and head of BDO in the Thames Valley, commented: “We are only two months into 2019 and our recent merger with Moore Stephens LLP has set the tone for a great year ahead as we continue to attract the best and brightest talent across all levels. The experience that Matt brings to the team will be a fantastic addition to BDO.”
