Insolvency specialist Hayley Simmons has taken the helm of the Shaw Gibbs insolvency and advisory division in Oxford and London.

She takes on the role with over 25 years’ experience in corporate and personal insolvency and restructuring, including a career with Shaw Gibbs spanning two decades.

Simmons is a licensed insolvency practitioner and director of Shaw Gibbs. She joined the firm from KPMG in 1996, qualifying shortly after as one of the youngest Insolvency Practitioners. She has spent the last 20 years building her knowledge and expertise in this specialist field. She is also a member of NARA, the Non-Administrative Receivers Association, specialising in law of property act receiverships.

Shaw Gibbs managing director Peter O’Connell said of the appointment: “Hayley has been a driving force in the development of our Insolvency and Advisory Division; I am delighted she’s taking on this role to further develop the Division and the services offered as our firm continues to grow.”

Hayley Simmons acts for companies, directors, individuals and creditors in both formal insolvency and advisory situations with a key focus on looking for the best solution for her clients. She also assists professional executors, charities and family members with deceased insolvent estates and deals with members' voluntary liquidations, working closely with shareholders and their tax advisers who are looking to sell or retire to help them plan and extract their funds in the most tax-efficient way.

Simmons succeeds Clive Everitt, who established the insolvency practice for Shaw Gibbs in 1991, and who will remain with the firm in an advisory role.
