Auditor and business adviser BDO Stoy Hayward in Southampton has strengthened its tax team by acquiring Adtax, an employment taxes advisory practice based in Fareham. The founders, Dave Hedges and Dave Grimley, set up Adtax five years ago, during which time they have built an impressive client list made up of blue-chip corporates. Their practice was short listed for the Lexus Nexus Tax Boutique of the year award for 2008.

Stuart Lisle, head of the tax team at BDO Stoy Hayward in Southampton explained: “The UK tax system is very complex and in order to ensure we provide our clients with a comprehensive tax service from the local office we need to ensure our team has deep specialism in a wide number of areas. For this reason we are continuing to invest in specialist teams.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to join, what we see as the leading tax team in the local marketplace,” said Dave Hedges. “The area of employment taxes is extremely important to large employers and the right advice can save them hundreds of thousands of pounds. Our expertise in this area will complement the team at BDO Stoy Hayward and ensure that clients get the very best advice in every area of taxation, provided locally.”

Kim Hayward, lead partner at BDO Stoy Hayward in Southampton, said: “The firm remains committed to working with this region's leading businesses. Earlier this year we saw Stuart bring in both Andrew Lines and Karen Wilson with their Lines Wilson tax boutique; now we have the Adtax acquisition, further strengthening our market leading tax team. Alongside this we are making further investment in our Corporate Finance practice and we see the promotion of Paul Anthony to partner in our Business Assurance practice due to our significant organic growth. As these changes clearly show, we are keen to ensure that we continue to strengthen, develop and build our teams so that our expanding client base get the very best advice, delivered by local teams, particularly in these challenging times.”
