Mike Sellers will become the new port director of Portsmouth International Port, succeeding Martin Putman who is retiring after 21 years as port manager.
Sellers, who has worked for Associated British Ports for 20 years, was most recently port manager at Grimsby and Immingham, where he oversaw the development of the Immingham Renewable Fuels Terminal, the world’s largest biomass-handling facility.
He said: “Portsmouth International Port is Britain's best connected ferry port and I am very much looking forward to building on Martin and the team's work.”
Putman started out as assistant harbour master at Portsmouth in 1988, having previously worked at the Port of Felixstowe following a career at sea. Since taking over at Portsmouth he has overseen important changes and been responsible for several multi-million-pound investments in new facilities to benefit ferry, cruise ships and cargo operations.
