MindWorks Marketing, based in Emsworth, celebrates 20 years in business this month – and its first birthday as an employee-owned business.

Both these significant milestones were marked by a party for the team, which also gave everyone the chance to look back at the past two decades of successful achievements for the agency.

This year alone, the multi-award-winning company has won the South Coast Business Awards 2018 and a place on the UK’s Top 25 Culture Leaders List 2018 for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), compiled by an SME website.

MindWorks was founded in 1998 by Emsworth resident and former head of marketing for the University of Portsmouth, John Harris-Burland, with just two staff.

Twenty years later, 35 staff in spacious purpose-built offices opposite the harbour at Emsworth proudly share ownership of the company and a share in its continued success. The company delivers a huge range of marketing, design and events services for leading global brands such as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Suzuki, Ford and Wiggle, as well as emerging brands nationally and worldwide.

Harris-Burland is now chairman and Group accountant director of the company and his successor as managing director is Michelle Leggatt who has been with the company for 18 years and has herself won a national Women in Business award for Manager of the Year.

Leggatt said: “MindWorks has always put people at the heart of everything we do. Working with like-minded people in a collaborative creative atmosphere means everyone enjoys what they do and makes amazing things happen for our clients.

“We have come so far and achieved so much during the past 20 years. As well as expanding in size and number of services we offer clients, our turnover has increased year on year. We are very proud of the amount of staff who have been with us for a number of years – as have many of our clients, with whom we have also built fantastic working relationships.”
