A Hampshire manufacturing firm is looking forward to a bumper 2019 after its landmark 40th anniversary year.

Fareham-based Barnbrook Systems has its sights set on expansion with a recruitment drive and new product development.

The company celebrated 40 years in business in 2018 with its most successful Farnborough International Airshow so far.

Managing director Tony Barnett said: “The company has invested in innovation and business growth during 2018 and this will continue over the next 12 months.

“We have successfully recruited some talented young graduates and are seeking to appoint more to help drive our product development and move the business forward.

“This investment has only been possible through a sensible and sustainable approach to business over the past four decades.”

Barnett, who founded the 42-strong business in 1978, said: “The past 12 months have included our best Farnborough International Airshow so far when we developed valuable contacts and business relationships.

“Our success has been down to the dedication and hard work of our people, and we’ll continue to aim for ever higher standards as we go into 2019 and beyond.”

Barnbrook Systems, based in Fareham Park Road, Fareham, is a designer, developer and manufacturer of electronic and electro-mechanical switching devices and systems for aerospace, defence, maritime, rail and commercial industries worldwide.

The family-owned firm is recruiting two new graduate engineers and a factory assistant in its next recruitment drive.

A leading member of the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), visitors to Barnbrook Systems’ stand at the Air Show included business secretary Greg Clark and transport minister Jesse Norman.

Barnett, who is a director of the FAC, was among the business leaders to give feedback about the economy to Bank of England governor Mark Carney when he visited the FAC stand.

Barnbrook Systems is a former winner at the UK Rail Industry Awards, Light Rail Industry Awards, and Solent Business Awards.
