Whether you're looking to stay away somewhere on business or take a weekend off from the hustle and bustle, Kent is the ideal getaway spot. Nowhere else in the South East offers such coastal charm, with the Garden of England boasting some particularly fine beachside hotels.

A comprehensive list of the fine establishments on the Kent coast would be a mammoth task to compile. Instead, here, we present a round-up of half a dozen of the county's most outstanding hotels with a sea view...

1, The Hythe Imperial, Hythe

The Imperial is a 4 star hotel in Hythe, right on the coast. It's a Victorian building with a history that dates back to 1880.

There are 92 specially-furnished bedrooms there, with no two suites the same. Although all share the same modern elegance.

You can enjoy some of your downtime in the spa and leisure facilities while there. Or explore the on-site dining options, which include The Holy Pundit, an Indian fusion restaurant and the award-winning AA Rosette Coast restaurant, which is located on the ground floor.

"Bask in the coastal air and panoramic sea views while enjoying friendly and attentive service from our enthusiastic team."

2, The View Hotel, Folkestone

The View Hotel, which is located on the renowned Leas promenade in Folkestone, is ideal for individuals who require simplicity and style from their stay. Expect cosy suites, high-speed WiFi throughout and a high-end bar and restaurant on the premises.

Each of the rooms has been tastefully updated while preserving many of the building's original features.

"A beautifully renovated 4 star boutique hotel which is the perfect destination for your next UK staycation. Our coastal location offers stunning views over the English Channel and there's plenty to explore around our Heritage Coast."

3, The Albion Rooms, Margate

Easily the most unusual pick on our list can be found down in Margate. The Albion Rooms is perhaps the country's only hotel owned by and themed around an early-2000's indie band.

Those not familiar with the music, lyrics, attitude and cultural impact of Pete Doherty and Carl Barât's controversial rock band The Libertines may not quite get all the hotel's various subtle references to their music and songs, but fans no doubt will.

That aside, like a lot of Margate, The Albion Rooms is aesthetically refined and - dare we say it - 'cool'.

All seven rooms come equipped with an updated bathroom, plush bedding, robes and slippers, GHD hairdryers, an Apple Beats sound system and tea and coffeemaking facilities. All room rates include a breakfast à la carte.

Additionally, there are two bars, a coffee shop and even a cutting-edge recording studio at The Albion Rooms.

"Designed by Rhiannon Sussex, who specialises in rich colour palettes and took inspiration for The Albion Rooms from the red, black and gold of the famous Libertines jacket. As a creator of distinctive, vintage interiors, Rhiannon worked closely with the band, incorporating their interests and collections of personal and treasured items, allowing her to subtly thread their aesthetic throughout the building."

4, The Relish, Folkestone

In Folkestone, a very short stroll to the beach, you'll find The Relish. With 10 exquisitely-designed rooms, all with outstanding bathrooms and super comfortable Hypnos beds.

This Regency townhouse somehow manages to give off strong contemporary vibes, even with its antique furnishings and heritage exterior.

Crisp white bed linen and large bath towels are standard; these little details add the touch of luxury that a good hotel takes pleasure in. Unlimited fresh coffee, tea, and homemade cake are available, along with free Wi-Fi and a complementary glass of wine or beer for each day of your stay.

"Check-in, Chill out and Relax, that’s the ethos at The Relish. Step inside this oasis of calm and leave the pressures of everyday life behind."

5, Albion House, Ramsgate

There are all sorts of rooms of diverse sizes and shapes, from the accessible room on the lower ground floor to the cosy chambers in the hotel's eaves. What's more - 12 of the 14 rooms enjoy a direct view of the ocean.

Although the hotel is charming, its location is its greatest asset. A stones' throw from Albion House you'll find Ramsgate seashore (please don't throw stones onto the beach, though...). Which offers extremely pleasant views indeed.

"Built in 1791, the history of Albion House Hotel Ramsgate is rich and colourful. As you would expect from a house which entertained royalty, politicians, actors and the wealthy, Albion House, Ramsgate sits in pride of place on top of the East cliff. Looking out over Albion Gardens and out to sea there are stunning views of the Royal Harbour – the only one in the country."

6, The Yarrow Hotel, Broadstairs

The Yarrow has a variety of rooms to choose from, each with a boutique flair to fit your every need. The opulent rooms at the hotel have huge roll-top bathtubs, lending a sumptuous feel to the lodgings. Plus, of course, the place is pleasingly beach adjacent.

The Yarrow also boasts some exquisitely-designed dining spaces that serve a variety of delicious food and beverages all day long. The solarium is the ideal location for an afternoon tea or morning coffee. In the bar, dishes are offered all day long on a lighter menu. The stylish and cutting-edge restaurant has a supper menu that includes a variety of daily specials as well as classic modern British dishes.

"A smart hotel with spacious, top quality rooms set in a renovated Jacobethan-style building within the East Kent College campus. Staffed partly by ambitious young college apprentices fresh out of hospitality courses, it features an excellent restaurant, spa and salon." - The Telegraph
