Isle of Wight charging points hacked
Isle of Wight Council has apologised to drivers who were subjected to pornographic material as they attempted to charge their electric vehicles.
It is unclear how many motorists were affected by the issue which was first reported on Sunday.
Motorists plugging their vehicle into the charging point were met with a pornographic third party website.
Three sites in Quay Road in Ryde, Cross Street in Cowes and Moa Place in Freshwater were all affected.
The local authority said: "We are saddened to learn that a third-party web address displayed on our electric vehicle (EV) signage appears to have been hacked.
"The council would like to apologise to anyone who may have found the inappropriate web content and for any inconvenience from charge points out of action."
