"This is part of the template for installing the right infrastructure to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles within the earliest possible timeframe."

Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer, London Gatwick Airport said: “London Gatwick is pleased to partner with Gridserve to deliver this fantastic and sustainable service.

"We are on a journey to create a low carbon economy, and London Gatwick is keen to play an important role by providing new infrastructure that everyone can use, so that together we can start reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.”

Gatwick Airport's Head of Real Estate and Surface Transport, Emma Rees, said the new facility will help Gatwick achieve its strategic vision of an 80% reduction in emissions by 2030 and reach zero emissions by 2040 by encouraging people, staff, passengers, the local community and our business partners to think about EVs because we now offer the facilities to charge them."

The London Gatwick Electric Forecourt is being built on the Ring Road South approach to London Gatwick’s South Terminal facilitating easy access for both transiting passengers and local residents.
