RSM's corporate finance team has advised shareholders of specialist technology distributor Sematron UK on the successful sale of the business to French distributor, the Milexia Group, for an undisclosed sum.

Basingstoke-based Sematron UK is an international distributor that specialises in satellite communication and broadcast equipment and systems, timing and synchronisation products and RF/microwave and digital components.

Milexia is a major European distribution group specialising in the sale of high technology value added components, systems and instrumentation. Milexia supports business partners and manufacturers across Europe through operations in France, Italy and Spain.

The RSM team that worked on the deal included Kirsty Sandwell, Stephanie Wilson and Joshua Whitall, with support from RSM's wider team in Basingstoke.

Kirsty Sandwell, RSM's head of M&A who led on the deal, said: "Sematron has been a longstanding client of our Basingstoke office and we were absolutely delighted to have been able to assist the shareholders in getting this deal over the line. This transaction gives Sematron new opportunities to grow as part of the Milexia group's specialist international network."

John O'Brien, managing director of Sematron said: "This is a very exciting time to be joining Milexia, one of the fastest growing distributors in Europe. Our companies share a common DNA, believing in people and putting customers first. Whilst we already share many product synergies, this is complimented with exciting new technologies we bring to the Milexia group."

Pascal Gandolfini, president of Milexia, said: "I'm very pleased about the agreement with Sematron and I'm confident that it will bring a number of benefits to our group. First of all, we'll expand our team with two valuable managers and friends, John O'Brien and Kevin Hall, who bring extensive experience in the electronics industry. Of course, we'll also be able to extend the territories of our coverage in European and we'll introduce within the Milexia group an important technical capability to manufacture, test and service RJ subsystems and timing solutions, in addition to the service capabilities we already have in the Scientific Instrumentation group."
