Thames Valley: RBS boosts technology team
Royal Bank of Scotland Corporate & Institutional Banking (RBS CIB) has strengthened its Technology & Telecoms team in the Thames Valley and South region with the appointment of two experienced sector specialists.
Roland Emmans has been recruited as relationship director, head of South Technology & Telecoms team and will be based in RBS CIB’s Reading office. Joining him will be Jeremy Richards, who has moved internally from a business development role in RBS Corporate Asset Finance.
Emmans has 20 years of corporate and investment banking experience covering a wide range of sectors and has worked for a number of financial institutions including Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He will report to Robin Barnes, regional director, Solent & Thames Valley.
Richards has just under a decade of experience in the industry, having worked for HSBC, Tenon and Grant Thornton, originating transactions for the mid-market team.
In his new position at RBS CIB, Emmans will lead a large team of banking experts and act as a single point of contact for the bank’s technology and telecoms customers based in the region. Emmans will have responsibility for customer service, delivering value-added market opportunities and business advice and banking, proactively identifying issues likely to affect individual businesses.

Richards said: “I have really enjoyed building strong relationships with local technology and telecoms companies in the Thames Valley over the last eight years, and I am pleased to be able to continue to work with many of them on behalf of the RBS Technology & Telecoms Team. I believe there is great potential in the sector for RBS to help clients grow and develop in a collegiate manner.”
