Peter Williams from Chandler's Ford has been promoted to head chef at the 460 cover restaurant at the Haskins Garden Centre at West End, Southampton.
Williams, who has over 30 years’ experience in the catering industry in the region – after becoming City and Guilds Qualified at Southampton Technical College, joined Haskins Garden Centre as a chef de partied less than three years ago and was promoted to sous chef just six months ago.
Restaurant general manager Ben Harrison says the promotion, with a team of 14 kitchen staff, is well deserved. “Peter is focused on maintaining high standards and has an acute understanding of our customers and their appreciation of the variety of meals we offer.”
The restaurant, originally built as a 250-seat venue in 1996, and doubled in size with a £2.3 million extension in 2011, now contributes around 25% of the centre’s turnover.
