One of the south’s leading independent developers, Orchard Homes, has appointed a new finance director as it signals its intention to embark on a period of sustainable and measured growth.

Andrew Jameson takes over from Peter Starling, who will be retiring from his full time role but remains with the company as a non executive director.

Thirty seven year old Jameson boasts an impressive track record. He joins Orchard Homes from accountants BDO in the region, where he was a director in the corporate finance team. Previously he enjoyed a long spell at Ernst and Young, where he worked worldwide across locations both in the UK and in South Africa.

A graduate in accounting and law at Southampton University, he qualified as an accountant at Grant Thornton.

Speaking of his new appointment, Jameson said: “Orchard has an enviable reputation and I am really excited to be joining this established and successful team. The housing sector is facing challenging times but the team have done a tremendous job to position Orchard for a period of further growth."

Jameson lives with his wife and three children in Hayling Island and takes part in a number of activities outside of work including sailing and squash, among other sports.

A banker by profession, Peter Starling leaves the post after 10 years at Orchard Homes. “Naturally it will be a wrench as Orchard Homes has been a huge part of my life but I’m delighted to be continuing my association with the company as a non-executive. It’s been quite a journey.”

Ken Lake, Orchard Homes’ managing director, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Andrew to this pivotal role as we look to prepare the company for a period of sustainable and measured growth. Andrew’s experience speaks for itself. I’d also like to pay great tribute to Peter who has guided us through some exciting periods of growth and latterly the turbulent times of the global financial crisis. We’re indebted to Peter for his knowledge, wisdom – and often a great sense of humour. Andrew is a worthy successor.”
