Southampton: Fast-growing architects strengthen senior team

A top-rated architects and master planners has recruited a senior architectural technologist. Southampton-based Boyle + Summers has appointed David Hawkins as an associate, and he joins with a wealth of architectural experience gained over the past 15 years.

New work is driving growth for the practice, which now employs 17 staff from its Ocean Village office. The company’s clients include JLL, Dandara, Baker Estates, Drew Smith, Brymor Construction and Selwood.

Hawkins, who joins the business team from a New Forest firm of architects, said: “I’m delighted to be starting at Boyle + Summers. I’ve been looking for a challenging position within a forward-thinking company which will develop my career, expand my knowledge and experience.

“A big factor on joining the firm was also Tony and Richard’s infectious personality, passion and ambition for the business and industry. There’s a great culture here at Boyle + Summers and a high emphasis on staff welfare and where the company is heading, which is refreshing.”

The firm has recently undertaken high-profile projects with several local authorities – including a tall building study in Southampton, a town centre vision for Bournemouth and a strategic masterplan for Portsmouth City Centre.

Director Tony Boyle said: “David is a fantastic addition to our growing team further boosting our technical capabilities. He has worked on a number of high-profile schemes and will add further strengthen our growing team.

Richard Summers added: “It’s an exciting time for the firm as we win new work and diversify into new sectors. We are proud to work on a wide range of projects, which includes schools, offices, apartments, houses, urban in-fill schemes, high-tech manufacturing facilities and even a seafront master plan.

“We have ambitious plans to expand over the next two years. We have clients all along the south coast from Cornwall to Kent and we are always looking forward to the next challenge.”

The firm is currently involved with a number of significant schemes including housing developments in Hampshire, Cornwall, Devon and Kent, major commercial development at Adanac Park in Nursling, and the re-development plans of pump and plant company Selwood’s head office in Chandlers Ford.
