Innovation, client service and professional excellence were to the fore as two finalists ‘did the double’ with two awards apiece when the region’s property professionals gathered to honour their sector’s top performers within 16 categories assessed at this year’s South Coast Property Awards (SCPA).

Fareham Borough Council’s creation of two business parks at the former HMS Daedalus site at Lee-on Solent was acclaimed as the Commercial Development of the Year.

Part of the Solent Enterprise Zone and beside the fully operational Solent Airport, the Faraday and Swordfish parks have now become premier locations for aviation, aerospace, engineering and advanced manufacturing businesses, while creating some 600 jobs.

One of the key benefits of the Solent Airport at Daedalus development is access to the onsite Fareham Innovation Centre and potential apprentices of the future, direct from the neighbouring Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST) – aspects highlighted by the SCPA 2018 Business Park Innovation award.

Meanwhile, the Terence O’Rourke planning and design consultancy based in Bournemouth also left the gala evening delighted with two awards – Architectural Practice of the Year and Property Client Service.

Among other significant and impressive work, the Terence O’Rourke practice assisted Bournemouth Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments with a master-plan vision to rejuvenate Bournemouth as ‘the 21st century garden city beside the sea’ –  no doubt a contributing factor to Bournemouth winning the SCPA 2018 Town/City of the Year award accolade.
