Two major freehold industrial sites on Bedford Road, Petersfield, totalling in excess of 30,000 sq ft have been sold by Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell to local owner-occupier businesses.

Unit 5, is over 18,000 sq ft within its own secure yard. Predominantly made up of industrial / warehouse space, it also has a mezzanine floor of open plan office space. The site was acquired by Viking Test, a long established and one of Europe’s leading printed circuit board suppliers. Set up in the 1980s, Viking Test outgrew its original Petersfield premises and moved to Bordon in 2016, before acquiring the Bedford Road site at the end of last year. The site has now been completely fitted out and the business has relocated back to the town.

The second unit to be sold was Unit 13, which like Unit 5 has its own secure yard and totals in excess of 15,000 sq ft. The freehold unit was acquired by family owned Newsome Tools.  Established in Sheffield in 1967 Newsome Tools has expanded in recent years and wanted another major outlet to accommodate its growing business. Opening a second operation in the south is a significant milestone for the company.

Commenting on the transactions, director Stuart Mitchell said: “The industrial estates on Bedford Road continue to be popular locations for a range of businesses. Selling both Unit 5 and Unit 13 to owner managed businesses is a real positive for Petersfield as a whole. Viking Test had been in the town for many years prior to relocating to Bordon and it’s great to see the firm back here again.

“Over recent months we have seen the interest in freehold industrial property continue to rise as businesses seek to own their own sites. The South Coast, in particular, has benefitted from this, albeit that until recently there had been very new little industrial development. However, this is now being addressed with several mid-sized sites coming on stream.”
