Oxfordshire: Software provider relocates to assist growth plans

Oxfordshire-based software provider Montala has relocated to new state-of-the-art premises.

The software firm, established by Dan Huby in 2005, has purchased the freehold of its new 4,700 sq ft headquarters at Shrivenham Hundred Business Park, Watchfield, Oxfordshire, with support of a six-figure investment from Barclays. The move from its original offices based on the Wicklesham Lodge business park just south of Faringdon, is aimed at future proofing the firm’s ambitious growth plans.

The business offers a unique software package called ResourceSpace, an open-source Digital Asset Management specifically designed for enterprises looking to manage photo, video and media files. This includes extra features large organisations require such as workflow, security and enhanced metadata. The firm now boasts an extensive international clientele of more than 260 customers including well-known household names such as Save the Children, Oxfam, Fairtrade International, Toyota, Toshiba and Macmillan Cancer Support. In addition, over 1,000 organisations are signed up to ResourceSpace  an open source software, meaning it is free to download and there are no license fees to pay and no vendor lock-ins.

Huby said: “I’m delighted that we have successfully moved to larger premises which will enable us to continue our growth strategy and deliver the great customer service that we have been recognised for. The Barclays finance package will allow us to create capacity to service a growing number of customers as well as increase our turnover and employee numbers by 75% in the next two years.”

The finance package was put together by Barclays business manager Stuart Marshall, who is based in Oxfordshire. Marshall dded: “Purchasing new premises despite the current uncertainty is still a great move for many customers. It’s important that Barclays continues to support local firms in their ambitious business goals and this lending demonstrates our appetite to support businesses with strong management and business plans.  This is great news not only for Montala but for the local economy.”

The move comes on the back of an exciting year for Montala who were one of only 14 companies to be granted a royal warrant of appointment to the Queen in 2018.
