Isle of Wight: Technology Park gets green light
Southampton planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates, acting for South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), has secured outline planning permission for a new business park on the Isle of Wight.
The Island Technology Park will be located at Whippingham on the outskirts of East Cowes and will consist of four hectares of office, industrial and warehousing space. Some initial site preparation and structural landscaping works have already been instigated.
Peter Cusdin, development director, SEEDA said: “This is an exciting project for SEEDA and for the Isle of Wight. SEEDA has played an active role in support of economic activity on the Island. The Island Technology Park makes an important contribution to the Island’s supply of employment land and is already generating substantial interest.”
John O’Donovan, director in the Southampton office of Turley Associates added: “This permission removes the planning risk for businesses looking for new premises on the Island. It will offer businesses the opportunity to create premises that suit their specific needs within a dedicated technology park. We are delighted with the decision.”
