Local independent firms in Oxfordshire are being given the chance to showcase their offerings thanks to major housebuilder Cala Homes.

The latter has expanded its 'Showhome of Support' initiative to its new development at Nobel Park in Didcot, meaning the three-bedroom and four-bedroom show homes feature products from local independents.

What's more, the items are also promoted on the housebuilder’s website with a bespoke landing page.

Firms taking part include the Oxford Artisan Distillery, which makes spirits with ingredients grown exclusively within 50 miles of Oxford whilst supporting ancient methods of farming and encouraging biodiversity.

Also featured is the Potters Wheel - a working pottery studio, retail outlet and creative hub of EmilyJane Ceramics in Wallingford and The Cookhouse Deli, which offers fresh bread, coffee, a selection of cheeses and a variety of locally sourced items.

There is also Oxford Soap Co, a local, family-run business that designs and creates handmade soaps and cosmetics and Cosmic Bloom, which handcrafts luxury, soy wax candles in small batches in South Oxfordshire.

Finally, BigMans Whittle Gifts is a craft shop that creates handmade wooden gifts from local wood in the county.

"Nobel Park is conveniently located close to Didcot village centre, which is brimming with independent retailers, so we were spoilt for choice when it came to showcasing the high-quality suppliers which neighbour our development," said Neil Simpson, sales and marketing director for Cala Homes Cotswolds.

"It’s great to see so many homegrown brands represented in our Nobel Park showhomes as it can be tough for small businesses to raise awareness of their brilliant produce.

"With the help of these local businesses, we’ve been able to give Nobel Park a uniquely Didcot feel which we can’t wait to show to potential homeowners in the area."

Nobel Park is a collection of homes, which includes detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses to suit first-time buyers, growing families, or downsizers.
