Romsey-based property developer Highwood has started working on a new neurological rehabilitation centre at Adanac Park in Southmapton, which is being delivered in partnership with Hamberley Development and Inspire Neurocare.

Once open, Highwood says it will be one of the most advanced neurological rehabilitation centres in the South of England. To celebrate the first dig, a number of leading medics and clinicians joined the project team.

Andy Stevenson, Construction Director at Highwood, said: “It’s a huge pleasure to be constructing what will be one of the South’s landmark neurological rehabilitation centres.

“The Highwood brand has been synonymous with the delivery of best-in-class specialist care facilities for many years and our work on the new centre and adjacent care home at Adanac Park will undoubtedly serve as a triumph in our project portfolio.”

It will offer rehabilitation, long-term, respite and palliative care for people with brain and spinal injuries as well as neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s and Huntington’s.

Michelle Kudhail, Director of Specialist Services for Inspire Neurocare, said: “We are delighted to finally break ground on what will be one of the most advanced neurological rehabilitation services in the South of England.

“This project has been a long-time in the making and so it’s wonderful to see all of our local partners here today for this important milestone.

“We very much look forward to working with University Hospital Southampton, the University of Winchester and the University of Southampton research and education teams.

“Complex care services are becoming more and more advanced and so it is vital that the best environment exists to deliver these life-enhancing services – Inspire Neurocare Southampton will do just that.”
