Farnborough: Shopping, restaurants and apartments get planning go-ahead
Rushmoor Borough Council has approved St Modwen’s planning application for the redevelopment of the site to be called Kingsmead Square, a key site in Farnborough town centre.
The application was submitted in February 2019 on behalf of Key Property Investments (KPI), a joint venture between St Modwen and Kuwait-based Salhia Real Estate Company.
The redevelopment of the site situated between Kingsmead and Queensmead, will feature 30,000 sq ft of new shopping and restaurants, 99 apartments including family-sized three-bed accommodation, parking and a bridge link to the previously completed car park above The Gym.
Gary Morris, senior development manager at St Modwen, said: “This is great news for Farnborough, as this consent will enable delivery of the latest phase of the regeneration of the town centre. We can now press ahead with discussions to secure new retail and restaurant tenants as well as providing new homes for the wider community with the aim of being on site later this year.”
