EV motor manufacturer completes phase one of Catalyst Bicester
Phase one of Catalyst Bicester has been completed, with the final unit taken by electric vehicle manufacturer YASA.
The manufacturer, which became wholly owned by Mercedes Benz last year, has taken unit four in phase one of the site, a 21,520 square foot detached technology building.
The Kidlington-headquartered company is known for its Axial Flux Technology, an alternative to the standard radial motors.
YASA’s lease is the second recent notable lease at the site, after aerospace firm Evolito took units one to three of phase one for its new headquarters.
Catalyst Bicester, which sits close to the Bicester Avenue retail centre, will have an end value of around £100 million once construction is complete.

Phase one of the development, let to YASA and Evolito, has been fully leased within six months of completion. Joining them is David Lloyd Health and Racquets Club, recently opened at Catalyst, providing facilities to the technology buildings and wider community.
Cherwell District Council has recently approved a reserved matters application for phases two and three of Catalyst, which will see give buildings totalling 121,735 square feet, with each individual unit ranging from 17,660 to 29,615 square feet. Construction is expected to start early next year, with completion expected later in the year.
Simon Parsons, Albion Land explained: “We warmly welcome YASA to Catalyst Bicester - another revolutionary electric motor company which has chosen Catalyst.
“The response to the Catalyst development from technology, advanced manufacturing and high-performance engineering companies has been unprecedented and we are in advanced and positive discussions with other similar companies about the next five buildings.
“YASA’s arrival is exciting news for Bicester, the Oxfordshire technology and science market is flourishing and the town is established as a key location for expanding knowledge based occupiers.
“Catalyst is attracting premium technology-based companies, generating significant investment and creating high quality employment opportunities. We are looking forward to developing phase 2 in 2023”
