National property consultancy Carter Jonas, acting on behalf of Leda Properties Limited, has sold a residential development site off Giernalls Road, in Hailey, north of Witney in West Oxfordshire to Sovereign Housing Association.

Extending to approximately 2.69 acres with access off Giernalls Road, the site represents a rare opportunity to deliver new homes in an attractive edge of village setting, with surrounding land uses including existing village recreational facilities.

Carter Jonas undertook a competitive tender process and selected affordable housing provider Sovereign Housing Association as the landowner’s preferred partner, to take forward development proposals.

Having acted as planning consultant, Carter Jonas originally secured outline planning permission for up to nine private homes. This established the principle of development across the site, and, under the terms of a conditional sale agreement, Sovereign subsequently built upon this success by securing full planning permission for a scheme of 22 affordable homes.

James Cordery, Partner at Carter Jonas, commented: “We have been working with Sovereign on this site for over two years and we are very pleased to have helped facilitate the delivery of much-needed affordable homes in this area.”

Joanna Smith, Development Manager at Sovereign, commented: “*We’re delighted to have acquired the site at Hailey, which paves the way for work to start on site. The homes being built will be sustainable, energy-efficient and affordable – and help to address the growing demand for housing, at a time of real need.”
