Bicester: Housebuilding project well on track
Cherwell District Council has indicated that almost 10% of the 10,129 homes planned for Bicester over a 20-year period have been built since 2011. As of March 2016, 956 homes had been delivered since 2011 leaving 9,173 properties remaining to be built by 2031. Planning permission has already been granted for 3,414 of these.
Councillor Barry Wood, leader of Cherwell District Council, said: “It’s important to monitor the progress of the Local Plan to ensure that the services, infrastructure and jobs are brought about at the same rate. The growth of Bicester has attracted on-going interest from the Government which has recognised the town’s potential and generated additional opportunities for investment through initiatives such as the Garden Town and Healthy New Town programmes.”
