Award-winning Portsmouth restaurant under new ownership
Restaurant 27 in Southsea, Portsmouth has been acquired by a private owner for an undisclosed sum.
Occupying a corner position in the seaside suburb, the fine dining Italian restaurant was owned and operated for 15 years by Kevin and Sophie Bingham, during which time it picked up a prestigious AA Rosette.
“As much as we’ve enjoyed being the owners and having dedicated much of our life to the industry, now is right for us to hand over the reins to someone else”, said Kevin.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work and dedication, but it has been incredibly rewarding in every aspect, and we wish the new owners the best of luck and will offer them our support.”
Restaurant 27 has seen a surge of bookings in recent weeks after the couple announced they’d be shutting up shop last month.
The sale to new owners was jointly advised by Christie & Co and Savills.
Richard Wood, regional director at Christie & Co, said: “I’m delighted to have completed on the sale of Restaurant 27, working alongside Chris Bickle at Savills to secure the deal.
“We’re excited to see what the new proprietors have in store for the restaurant, given their experience in the industry.”
Chris added: “The property attracted strong interest resulting in multiple bids, illustrating the continued demand we are seeing for the Southsea area of Portsmouth – particularly for well-presented assets with accommodation.”
