Amazon’s investment into South East totals £4.4bn since 2010
According to a new report from Amazon, the company has contributed £4.4 billion to the South East’s GDP since 2010.
In its 2022 Amazon UK Economic Impact Hub, the online retail giant has shown its economic impact on the South East, broken down into Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire; Surrey, East and West Sussex; Hampshire and the Isle of Wight; and Kent.
The analysis shows that in the region as a whole, Amazon has created more than 4,000 full and part time jobs, trained over 1,550 through its employability skills training programme, and created in excess of 190 apprentices.
On top of this, more than 11,000 SMEs in the South East sell through Amazon, leading to more than £420 million of export sales in 2021.
Amazon has also partnered with charity Magic Breakfast to deliver more than 340,000 healthy breakfasts to vulnerable children and school in the region.

Speaking to This is Oxfordshire, Banbury Amazon delivery station manager Andy Barber said: "Amazon is a proud member of the community in Berkshire, Bucks and Oxfordshire, investing over £3 billion in the region since 2010 to support local businesses, create jobs and make a positive contribution to the regional economy.
"We help more than 3,000 small businesses across Berkshire, Bucks and Oxfordshire sell on Amazon and reach customers around the world, and we also continue to support community organisations across the region through donations and volunteering.
"Recently, we have donated to a range of good causes including BYHP (Supporting Young People in Housing Need) while working with Magic Breakfast to deliver healthy breakfasts to vulnerable children and schools.”
