Metro Bank’s rapid expansion continues in 2015 with the opening of its 39th store in Newbury.

To mark the occasion, the Bank is inviting Newbury residents to join colleagues for its grand opening celebrations taking place on November 20 and 21.

As a community bank, Metro Bank is creating local jobs and has employed around 20 people from Newbury. The team will be led by Clare Chamberlain, store manager, and Phil Opie, local director. The new Metro Bank store can be found at 64 & 65 Northbrook Street.

Metro Bank launched in July 2010 with a focus on providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience to customers – testament in its early-till-late, seven-day store opening. Unlike any other bank in the UK, Metro Bank provides free coin counting for customers and non-customers with Metro Bank Magic Money Machines, instant printing and replacements for lost or stolen debit cards and safe deposit boxes for customers’ valuables.

The bank is supported by the most advanced technology to give customers an excellent service across any channel they choose to use for their banking, be it in store, via the 24-hour local contact centre – manned by people not machines, online banking or through the personal innovative mobile app.

All Metro Bank stores are open at the most convenient time for local residents and businesses: 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm Saturday, and 11am-5pm Sundays and bank holidays, 362 days a year.

Customers wishing to reserve a safe deposit box at the Newbury store can do so online, one week before the store opens, by visiting https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/box.

Councillor Howard Bairstow said: “To get best value for money and great service we all depend on competition to give us this highly-wanted duet. Metro Bank will be offering this competition, giving us more choice and new ways of banking that others may well need to follow. This will be a much sought-after addition to our town’s high street and I welcome Metro Bank to Newbury.

James Baughan, regional director, Metro Bank, commented: “We’re excited to continue our expansion with the opening of our new store in Newbury. Thousands of people have already joined us for our unparalleled levels of service and convenience. We’re thrilled to be able to bring a true banking alternative to the Newbury community, and look forward to welcoming both personal and business customers on our journey as we revolutionise UK banking.”
