Romsey-based chartered financial adviser Jamie Mallon has announced the merger of his business, Mallon Wealth Management, as part of the expansion of one of the south’s largest financial firms, Eight Wealth Management in Whiteley.

Mallon began his career with TSB in Southampton in 1989, undertaking qualifications, training and gaining ten years’ experience as a regulated financial advisor. Having gained his diploma from the Professional Finance Society, he became senior wealth manager for the South of England for Scottish Widows in 2004, and four years later was invited to set up his own business working in partnership with investment firm St James’s Place.

Over the next 10 years, Mallon took further qualifications to be one of the UK’s first chartered planners in 2012 and passed advanced papers to become a fellow in 2014, while Mallon Wealth Management grew to employ five other advisers with support staff, moved to offices in the heart of Romsey and was looking after £250 million of funds. It was at this point Mallon paused for thought.

"The demands of internal operations, administration and functions such as HR and marketing, in addition to providing the highest standards of client care, were increasing rapidly. I confided in Ian Riggs, who I have been friends with since our days working at TSB together and watched grow his company, Eight Wealth Management, into an incredible enterprise, and we decided to bring my business to his. I spoke to my staff, negotiated terms and now we have the resources and structure for both us and our clients."

"Welcoming Jamie and his team has been fantastic," said Ian Riggs, founder and CEO of Eight Wealth Management, which is a principal partner of St James’s Place. "It has strengthened the service for all our clients with a whole new raft of shared experience, expertise and resources. We have always felt the same about industry issues such as the importance of regulation, qualification and transparency, so it has been a natural fit."
