IRIS Software Group, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned software companies, rewards employee James Nadal for his innovative and entrepreneurial business idea with its first Made in IRIS CEO Award.

The Award encourages IRIS employees to think of new business ideas for products and services or ways of helping business professionals flourish and school leaders improve educational outcomes.

Successful candidates were invited to present their ideas to the IRIS executive team at a Dragon’s Den-style panel. If successful, they were then given the funds and resources to help bring their ideas to life.

Nadal, associate content manager at IRIS, was crowned the winner and awarded £25,000 for the successful launch of his project Your Accountancy Life – a new online community publication dedicated to celebrating accountants’ good news.

Elona Mortimer-Zhika, CEO at IRIS Software Group, said, “I’m truly inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit shown by our employees, who put forward some incredible ideas to help IRIS become a better business.

“Each of our finalists showed creativity and outstanding business acumen; from enhancing our products and providing our customers with the best mission-critical software to run their businesses, to concepts that champion our customers and put them at the heart of everything we do.

“We were particularly impressed by James’ idea as it sits at the heart of our business and provides a great platform to show how and why accountancy firms are heroes of the British economy. His idea allows us to celebrate the great work and difference they’ve made to their clients.

“I am so proud of the talent at IRIS. It’s our people who enable us to be the pioneering, market-leading and high-performing company we are today.”

Nadal, associate content manager at IRIS Software Group, said "I'm stunned but thrilled to win this award – it means an immense amount to me and my family, who are also absolutely overjoyed.

“I am incredibly grateful to Elona and the panel for picking me, particularly with such an amazing crop of ideas that my colleagues have brought to the table. There were clearly many clever and brilliant proposals brought forward that I look forward to seeing come to life as well.

“I hope we can do something really positive with Your Accountancy Life, further demonstrating that we are accountants' biggest fans, and providing a new platform to share their brilliant success stories and good news."
