HIPPO targets growth with promotion

Portsmouth-based waste removal firm, HIPPO has ambitious plans for growth within the retail and B2B sectors. With significant targets in mind, the entrepreneurial company has promoted its retail sales manager, Sam Norris (pictured), to help drive HIPPO’s expansion.

Norris, now sales manager across the nationwide business, comments: "As the only waste removal company with a presence in trade and DIY outlets, HIPPO has every right to feel proud of its position within the retail and consumer market. The HIPPOBAG was a UK first in terms of an alternative to the metal skip and we are yet to see a challenger in the marketplace. However, we believe there is still untapped potential for HIPPO at the retail partnership and business-to-business level. So we are setting ourselves the challenge of substantially increasing turnover in this area and it is a real privilege for me to be driving this forward."

Norris has a background in business development, sales and marketing. He started in space planning for big brands like B&Q and Vodafone before taking on a more merchandise-focused role with Samsung and then expanding into a whole business remit with Huawei. When he joined HIPPO in 2019, Norris was incredibly well-placed to help the company build and develop its retail presence, which he has successfully done. He is now taking business solutions under his wing, along with continuing to expand the retail side of HIPPO.

Gareth Lloyd-Jones, managing director of HIPPO, continues: "As an entrepreneurial business that is driven towards making waste removal as easy and environmentally friendly as possible, HIPPO has always taken a very personal approach to customer service. Sam’s varied sales and marketing experience within consumer goods makes him well-placed to drive the business forward and help the brand stand out. Our intention is to combine high profile, experiential marketing with a genuine partnership approach to business and retail relationships, in order to continue to grow HIPPO’s award-winning service."

About HIPPO

HIPPO was established in 2002 and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading rubbish clearance provider, rated 'Excellent' on Trustpilot. As well as the famous HIPPOBAGs, the company also offers skip hire and Man & Van collection services so that all waste disposal needs can be met. HIPPO’s strong environmental policies ensure that over 95% of all waste collected is diverted from landfill with the remaining disposed of in a responsible way.
