Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) tech firm Flylogix has announced the appointment of a new Chair of the Board, who they're hoping will help guide the company towards expansion into new sectors.

Colette Cohen OBE will leave her position as CEO of the Net Zero Technology Centre to take up the position.

Cohen, who was awarded an OBE two years ago for her outstanding services to the UK energy industry, has been working in the industry since joining BP in 1991. Since then she has plied her trade in the North Sea for ConocoPhillips - receiving a Jubilee medal from the Kazakh Prime Minister for her work. She later became Senior Vice President for Centrica Energy in the UK and Netherlands.

Colette, who is a graduate in chemistry from Queen’s University Belfast and has a Masters in Project Management and Economics from Ceram Business School (and an honorary doctorate from the University of Aberdeen) is a member of The Institute of Directors, The Society of Petroleum Engineers and a fellow of the Energy Institute.

Flylogix CEO Charles Tavner says this about the new appointment: "I'm delighted to welcome Colette on board in a full-time capacity. She is one of the most experienced and inspiring executives in the energy industry. But she is also someone with a real open mind about technology, who was incredibly encouraging to us at the inception, not just of the company, but of the idea behind it.”

“Colette is also a committed and outstanding role model for women in industry and I know she will add an enormous amount of value to Flylogix at a critical moment in our development. We are actively expanding into new sectors, with new applications for our beyond line of sight technology, and Colette’s experience and natural empathy for our business model and ambitions will be hugely valuable to Flylogix and our clients.”
