Fareham-based civil engineering company Graham Moyse Contractors has announced its latest contract win to regenerate part of Portsmouth Commercial Port in line with its new terminal construction work and desire to support increased numbers of large cruise liners coming into port. This has financially been assisted and supported by the NatWest team in Portsmouth.

Celebrating the company’s 25th year in business, managing director Graham Moyse provides a civil engineering service, mostly working in partnership with the Local Authorities. Providing services in construction, demolition, utilities and hard paving, Moyse has worked alongside projects such as the giant sun dial at Gosport, the demolition of buildings at Knowle hospital and various projects with the MOD. Most recently the company won the contract to regenerate and prepare the dockside at Portsmouth Commercial Port. Work has commenced and is likely to complete in mid-August, part of the port’s £12m new terminal building construction to improve passenger facilities and support the arrival of large cruise liners including Fred Olsen, Saga Group and Sea Cloud II. Due to the demand of the project, Moyse has taken on three additional members of staff, taking their total headcount to 56.

Moyse has enjoyed a partnership with NatWest since 1997. Andy Williams, director of business development at NatWest, initially worked with Moyse to establish the banking connection and most recently has enjoyed a close working relationship with relationship manager Ian Cooke to deliver against the company’s funding solutions. Cooke structured a debt facility package that will allow for working capital facilities to enable the Portsmouth Port project to complete on time and to a high quality finish.

Graham Moyse commented: “We are very proud to reach this milestone and feel very privileged to be playing a vital role in bringing the Port back to life and assisting the way for large cruise liners. Our approach remains the same as it was when the business was founded 25 years ago – we aim to provide each customer with an individual solution that meets their specific needs. My thanks go to NatWest who have fully supported us throughout our banking relationship, for which I am grateful.”

Ian Cooke, Relationship Manager at NatWest in Portsmouth, added: “To reach 25 years’ trading is a great achievement for the company and demonstrates the strength of their service offering and reputation for quality. Graham has considerable expertise in the civil engineering industry and the latest Portsmouth Port contract win is testament to this. It is very rewarding to see a local company working on a high-level local project and the opportunities this will bring to the region. I wish Graham and the team all the best as they embark on this project.”
