Malik Ahmed, owner of Maliks tandoori restaurant in Cookham, has realised his dream of owning his premises, purchasing the restaurant’s freehold with a £1,050,000 loan from HSBC.
After a fire last year caused extensive smoke damage to his restaurant, plans to purchase the premises were put on hold. Restoration work took several months, during which time his Grade II listed restaurant remained closed. Malik turned to HSBC to support the business while it was unable to trade.
Stephen Carr, HSBC’s area director of business banking for South Bucks and Middlesex, said: “While the restaurant was being refurbished, Malik still had bills to pay so we were able to help him through this challenging period. We’re absolutely delighted to see him finally own his Cookham premises outright and to see the restaurant open for business once more.”
Malik Ahmed, owner of Maliks, said: “HSBC has been really supportive, particularly over the last year, helping to keep the business afloat and now providing the funding to purchase my premises. This has long been a dream of mine and is a great next step for my family business. I can now look to future growth opportunities with firm financial foundations.”
Ahmed has a further two tandoori restaurants in Gerrards Cross and Marlow, as well as a stand-alone takeaway offering in Gerrards Cross.
