Solent law firm Trethowans has rounded off a record-breaking year with the appointment of another partner.

Richard Dollimore joins the Poole office as a partner in the private client team. His addition brings the number of partners at Trethowans, which also has offices in Salisbury, Southampton and Winchester and a base in London, to 36.

Dollimore has more than 20 years’ experience as a lawyer and specialises in private client work. His role at Trethowans will see him working on everything from will drafting, estate inheritance tax planning and estate administration to power of attorney and deputyship applications.

He acts as an executor, trustee and attorney and also as a deputy for clients who no longer have the capacity to deal with their own affairs. Helping the vulnerable and particularly the elderly is a cause close to his hears and he is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly.

Dollimore said: “Helping clients to sort their affairs for the benefit of their families or close friends is incredibly rewarding. Often as solicitors we’re brought in to handle these matters at what is a particularly difficult time so it’s important that we’re able to empathise and be a pillar of support.

“I’m looking forward to working with Trethowans’ existing private clients, as well as working to reach and help even more individuals across the region.”

Dollimore’s appointment comes at the end of a busy year of growth at Trethowans’ Poole headquarters. The office is now home to nine of the firm’s 17 private client lawyers.

It reflects the firm’s growth across the region, with Trethowans named as the fastest-growing legal firm in the UK for firms with turnover up to £24m in October.

Chris Whiteley, managing partner at Trethowans, said: “It’s been an exciting year for Trethowans, not least with the launch of our latest mission to become a top 100 UK practice by 2020 with a turnover target of £20 million.

“Richard’s appointment will help drive growth on the ground in Poole and give our clients access to even more expertise.”
