Worcester cyber company partners with USA-based CMMC Center of Excellence
Worcester-based cyber security company Titania has partnered with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Center of Excellence (CMMC COE), hosted by the USA-based Information Technology Acquisition Advisory Council (IT-AAC).
This partnership will extend efforts to improve cybersecurity protection and resilience for the global defence industrial base network of contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Titania is a leading provider of cyber security solutions including Titania Nipper, which assesses the security of firewalls, routers, and switches, and has been used by all four arms of the US Department of Defense for more than ten years to automate configuration audits for compliance with DISA STIGs.
Phil Lewis, Titania CEO said: “It’s a privilege to be partnering with the CMMC COE and CMMC COE EU, demonstrating our mutual commitment to innovation and best practice.
"Through this partnership, we will be able to bring our accurate compliance assessment capabilities to companies requiring CMMC certification. Working together we can further our joint mission of increasing adoption of the CMMC framework and enhancing cybersecurity resilience in the defense supply chain, in both the United States and Europe.”
John Weiler, Chairman of the Board at CMMC Center of Excellence said: “This is an exciting opportunity for us. This new partnership will further help advance the goals and objectives for improving the supply chain security and resilience of the US Department of Defense (DoD)”.
In January Titania announced it had secured £2.5 million investment from leading independent infrastructure and private equity investment manager Foresight Group LLP.
The investment will be used to support the senior management team in taking Titania through its next stage of growth, assisted by Foresight’s expertise in the sector.

Founded in 2009 by Ian Whiting, the company has grown substantially due to the success of its first product, Nipper, which automates the assessment of network devices to identify mis-configurations and vulnerabilities with the accuracy of a penetration tester. Winner of multiple cybersecurity industry awards, as well as the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, the company has more than 1,000 customers globally, particularly within governments, critical infrastructure and penetration testing for sectors, including the Payment Card Industry (PCI).
