University Cyber Centre helps to retrain military personnel

The University of Gloucestershire’s Cyber Centre, C11, has been selected by Crucial Academy to run courses, as part of the Ministry of Defence resettlement programme, for service personnel looking to move into cyber security.   

The courses will run from March 2019 at the C11 facility in Berkeley and will be available for existing service personnel and selected civilians looking to further their career in cyber security. 

Professor Kamal Bechkoum, Head of School of Business and Technology, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Crucial Academy to C11, and to provide a purposely converted training suite and secure conference space which complements the range of specific cyber areas that the University is working on.”

George Carlo, Chief Operating Officer of Crucial Academy, said: “Crucial are delighted to partner with the University of Gloucestershire and use the state-of-the-art facilities at C11 to deliver our training courses. We see this as a huge step forward in our expansion and the alignment of these businesses will enable us to continue our mission in helping military veterans in their transition as well as training the public in Cyber Security.”

C11 was funded by G-First LEP and is run by the University of Gloucestershire to meet the needs of the cyber community.  Located at the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park, C11 is equipped with the latest technology, designed to meet the cyber security challenges for Businesses in the South West.
