Thames Valley: Top tech presenter to speak at awards

David McLelland is the keynote speaker at the Thames Valley Tech Awards, taking place at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading, later this month.

McLelland will enlighten and entertain the audience of 370 of the top technology and telecoms business people from across the region at the awards dinner on September 19.

An experienced broadcaster and journalist, McLelland is an expert working across television, radio, print and online. His beat regularly includes mobile and consumer technology, cybersecurity, enterprise IT, social media and online safety.

He is resident technology consumer champion for BBC1 Rip Off Britain, a regular in the ITV Good Morning Britain studio reporting on breaking technology news stories, and co-host of mobile gadget show Planet of the Apps for Challenge TV. He busts cyber-scams for BBC Watchdog and is a frequent contributor to BBC News Channel, Channel 4 News, CNN, BBC Radio 5live, Radio 4 and BBC local radio giving his take on gadgets and tech from around the world.
As a print and online journalist McLelland has contributed to titles including The Metro, International Business Times, Wired, Computer Weekly, TechRadar, CNET and Computing.
A professional member of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, McLelland’s career as a technologist saw him work at the sharp end of the IT industry with blue-chips and start-ups alike. His client-list includes IBM, Thomson Reuters, Cable & Wireless, ING, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Boots, Royal & Sun Alliance, Bank of Tokyo and both central and local government.
McLelland has been a trusted face and voice of brands as diverse as Adobe, SAP, Audi, Kaspersky Lab, Asus, O2, Qualcomm, Peugeot and the Met Office. He is an experienced event host and moderator, chairing live panels and debates across the world.
