Surrey’s 3ti reveals world’s first pop up solar car park
Surrey based solar power company 3ti launched the world’s first pop up mini solar car park, Papilo3, a unit designed and tested at Surrey Research Park.
The Papilo3 unit is designed to be deployable in 24 hours and manufactured locally from recycled shipping containers. A single unit will provide up to 12 EV charging points and is designed to both expand the EV industry’s infrastructure and provide an effective and convenient charging experience for EV users at their place of work.
A prototype of the unit was unveiled at Surrey Research Park in May 2022 and will remain there for the next 2 years for further testing based on market feedback.
3ti have made the Papilo3 available to would be users via rental contract, which means customers are not forced into capital investment. The unit’s funding target of £500,000 was reached in less than an hour following its deployment at Surrey Research Park.
The company wants the Papilo3 to support the expansion of the Electric Vehicle industry in the UK ahead of the 2030 ban on the sale of new diesel and petrol vehicles in 2030.
