South East: IT vacancies rise 34% year-on-year
Demand for IT permanent professionals in the South East rose by 34% year-on-year to November 2018 according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).
The data, provided by recruitment software company Innovantage also reveals a rise in several other sectors across the board.
Commenting on the data, Rina Durban, regional director at APSCo said:“Following a rise in demand for talent across sectors, the South East is seeing exceptional growth, with the IT sector leading the way.
“According to recent reports, in an analysis of estimated job growth between 2016 and 2024, nine of the 10 fastest growing occupations in Great Britain are forecast to be in the tech industry – with activity heavily concentrated in the South East.
"As our members on the ground report, if the region continues with its strong digital performance, we can expect to see more specialist talent heading to the South East for job opportunity as businesses increasingly choose to relocate outside of London while opting to remain in close proximity to the Capital.
“If the South East can continue to grow its IT sector, this will not only attract local and international skills and create and influx of talent in the region looking for roles, but also help businesses to expand and enhance economic success.”
