Amito, the Reading-based cloud hosting services scale-up, has announced that Gordon Matthew will be joining the business as chairman. A seasoned tech entrepreneur, Matthew joins at a time of significant growth and consolidation for the business, which has grown to a team of 25 this year.As chairman, Matthew will guide the founder-led business through its next phase of ambitious UK expansion.

Founder and CEO of Trend Services Management, Matthew brings with him a track record of transformation and growth in both services and software businesses, with a particular expertise in tech M&As. He has held a number of non-executive roles.

Also joining Amito’s board is Cath Jones who becomes the business’ first financial director. With extensive experience in corporate finance, Jones will be setting Amito’s strategic direction, as it looks to build on growth of 15% this year.

Amito, which is led by data centre visionary, Ed Butler, was re-branded in 2018. This followed the merger of the founder team’s previous businesses, iCloud Hosting and Everest Datacentres, and their subsequent acquisition of Crosspoint Colocation in 2016.

Ed Butler commented: “As with all businesses coming through a rapid growth phase, we’ve been focused internally on the business, ensuring our customers and team are happy.  We now have incredible foundations in place, with Gordon and Cath bringing their strategic experience to strengthen our position even more. Acquisitions are very much in Amito’s near future. We’re thrilled to have industry trailblazers in our corner to make this happen.”

Amito works with customers such as Hype, BigStep and Redstor. The business is prioritising network development and colocation site expansion in 2020, adding 100G network across all its sites to maximise connectivity for customers.

Matthew added: “I’m genuinely delighted to join the Amito leadership team at this exciting time. For a hosting provider to be able to deliver the fastest support team response rates in this competitive market doesn’t happen overnight; it takes years of experience and a reassuring obsession with customer experience. Right now, it’s about shaping our industry leading growth strategy as we look to help more customers unlock the potential of the cloud, and world class colocation and connectivity.”
