Argus Global, an award-winning biometrics firm which was established in Australia, has made Witney Business and Innovation Centre (Witney BIC) its European headquarters.  The company currently has six full-time employees and has taken just over 500 sq ft of office space.
Argus Global provides a number of public and private sector organisations with fingerprint and iris-based recognition systems used in applications such as access to buildings, tracking time, attendance and controlling visitor movements.  The company was responsible for introducing the first bail-management system to a UK police force.
Paul Coombes, regional director, explained: “Biometric technology has traditionally been installed where security has been the key driver, such as access control in prisons. More recently, for applications like gym membership, cashless vending, and visitor management, our solutions are being used, not only because of the enhanced security, but also because they are quick, easy to use and convenient.”
He said: “Witney BIC is the perfect home for the team as we can grow and expand within the centre without having to pay for space that we are not using. We have already expanded during our first month.”
Managed by Oxford Innovation, Witney BIC is owned by Blenheim Palace and provides a selection of office space solutions for one to 30 people.
Alli Anderson, centre manager, said: “It is exciting to have another cutting-edge technology company at Witney BIC and we look forward to supporting the Argus team with their ambitions to grow the business over the next few years.”
