Leading communications provider OneCom has signed a deal to provide IT services at the home of Hampshire cricket.

The company, based in Whiteley, Hampshire, is to supply its IT management services to Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

The agreement marks OneCom’s biggest IT contract so far as the firm, already the UK’s biggest business-to-business mobile phone provider, continues its expansion into unified communications services.

OneCom will provide IT support for the Ageas Bowl’s workstations and servers, operated by around 65 users, along with restoration and data backup services.

Through remote support, OneCom will use its monitoring software to keep an eye on the systems in real time and move swiftly to deal with any problems.

As well as the IT support, OneCom  is also supplying broadband, mobile and fixed telephone services and mobile data as part of the deal.

James Bannister, managing director of OneCom services, said: “This is a significant new development for us as it underlines our move into unified communications, where IT support, broadband and fixed and mobile telephone services are all supplied as one package from OneCom.

“There will be many more to come but so far this is our biggest deal for IT service. OneCom has a proud association with Hampshire Cricket Club and we’re very proud and delighted to be working with the Ageas Bowl in this way.”

Ageas Bowl commercial director Stuart Robertson said: “We are delighted to have deepened and extended our partnership with OneCom via this exciting new agreement and we very much look forward to working together as The Ageas Bowl becomes a truly world-class destination resort.”

The Ageas Bowl contract comes after rapidly-growing OneCom celebrated its most successful six months ever in which is secured £20 million of new business.

OneCom signed up clients to a total of 25,000 new connections during the six months up to the beginning of May – a 10% increase on OneCom’s previous half-year best.

OneCom, which is a Vodafone Platinum Partner, employs around 400 staff and handles well over 225,000 connections.
