Opportunity knocks for cyber

If you have ever wondered whether your emails or data is being used illegally there is now a chance to find out at a workshop being run by the Warwickshire IT solutions and security experts Zenzero.

The company, which is based at the Innovation Centre in Warwick, is offering a search of the dark web for everyone attending their workshop on November 19 2019 as part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Business Festival.

The dark web is a part of the internet which can’t be tracked and is used for criminal activity from selling drugs to buying stolen credit cards. Users are able to remain anonymous through encryption software.

The financial and personal data and emails of individuals, companies and organisations which have been stolen through phishing attacks, hacks or malware can be found for sale or are simply being misused – often without people knowing.

Zenzero Cyber Security expert, Russell Howarth said: “The biggest problem is people have no idea what happens to the information they put into websites, whether that is the details of their credit card or their email address. So many of us give away our data without double checking the site we are using is genuine. The same goes for opening emails and attachments.

“We are offering free dark web searches to everyone who signs up to our event because we want to support businesses and show them how to stay safe online. It can feel overwhelming but it need not be. If they discover their data is being used illegally through the searches we do then they can do something about them and we will show them how.”

The free workshop “Protect your business and reputation from cyber threats and generate more business” is being run at Zenzero’s offices at the Innovation Centre, Warwick Technology Park, Warwick CV34 6UW on November 19 2019 from 11am to 2pm. A buffet lunch is provided.

The workshop is free for all businesses and organisations in Coventry and Warwickshire. To book a place click on register at  http://bit.ly/330ACiQ
