‘Busy year’ for Bristol biomaterial firm Kelpi with multiple new hires
Kelpi, a Bristol business developing a seaweed-based alternative to plastic packaging, has grown its team from 13 to 18 in the past four months alone.
The firm has recently welcomed programme manager Fiona Hastings, who brings to the role extensive project management experience, as well as senior process engineer Saud Khalid, who’ll look to help scale up production.
Last year, Kelpi held a £3 million seed funding round to accelerate production of its renewable and compostable bioplastic coatings.
And in March, it secured a contract with global fresh fruit producer Blue Skies, a supplier of Waitrose, to prototype and pilot sustainable packaging ready for 2025.
Kelpi promises a ‘busy and exciting’ year ahead, with more to come in the following months.
