Bournemouth-based business telephone systems provider 4Com has announced its fifth acquisition of the past 12 months.

Its acquisition of Southampton-based Meridian IT Communications Ltd’s customer base, completed on 9 May, adds another 89 customers to the company’s 13,000-strong customer base.

The acquisition follows those of Midshire Telecom, Eastern Voice and Data, the business telecoms customer base of Bluebell Cloud Solutions and the acquisition of Reach Digital Telecoms.

Gary Scutt, 4Com’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted with our latest customer-base acquisition of Meridian IT Communications.

“As we continue this acquisition journey, we are constantly pursuing new opportunities to further our expansion; the addition of this customer-base will compliment and further that growth. We look forward to bringing our new customers on board and building a strong relationship with them.”

Danny Cox, Director at Meridian IT Communications, said: “Although we are proud of our success in the telecommunications market, we have come to the decision to close the business, and selling our customer base was a key part of this process.
