Nigel Foottit, a leading forensic accountant, has joined BDO LLP in its Southampton office to strengthen the existing team, making it the largest forensic accounting team on the south coast.
Joining the team from Mazars LLP in Poole, Foottit previously worked with Mike Mason, head of Forensic Accounting at BDO around 13 years ago. Mason commented: “We enthusiastically welcome Nigel back and his return signals positive expansion of the department. We now have four full time senior people with over 50 years’ experience between us.”
Foottit’s experience includes working on commercial, criminal and matrimonial cases. He explained: “We are financial investigators; whether it is a commercial dispute, criminal matter or a divorce case, we look to find out where things may have gone wrong, or where money is missing. In essence, we aim to discover the financial truth.”
Working on a variety of cases, Foottit has recently acted for the defence on a £10m Ponzi investment fraud scheme, acted as an independent expert to determine matters in dispute following an acquisition of a company, and assessed the losses arising at a motor dealership following the acquisition and subsequent termination of a main dealer franchise.
